Dyadic Alchemy

COVID 19 was stressful in many ways, one way, at least for me, is that I couldn’t seem to get a job.  For a year after moving to North Carolina at the very start of the pandemic I floundered and despite sending resume after resume the jobs were scarce. I found myself with plenty of time on my hands and a boyfriend (now my husband) with plenty of patience as he made plenty of money for the both of us. But I truly hate not having work, not having anything to do, not having my own money.  So I stressed and I was restless.

I started to roam social media looking for job postings and found a few creative souls that I was drawn to. After a while of watching them, seeing the businesses they have created for themselves on Instagram out of the absolute need to do SOMETHING with my time we started to slowly convert our large upstairs room into a business. It started out slow at first as neither one of us are people prone to jumping into any situation without doing intense amounts of research.  We decided to become legitimate and Dyadic Alchemy LLC was born. Once that was established, we renovated the upstairs room to reflect our side hustle.

(As you can tell we don't have alot of followers but honestly we aren't looking to be the next best thing as our time has become painfully limited lately.  Life has a way of doing that!)

Unfortunately, or…fortunately depending on how you want to look at it, it was when Dyadic Alchemy took off that I did finally get a position and since then I have almost no time to spend on our side hustle.  We still take orders if they aren’t too large and though you’ll find we have stopped advertising on social media about what we have done, we still keep busy and make things for friends, family and co-workers.

Meanwhile I do want to pay homage to some of the wonderful influencers and small businesses I have found along our journey that I follow and learn from in one way or another.

I'm madly in love with creating logos but these take some work to think up, at least for me. I've created several client logos and these two designers have me envying their designs.

I believe these next 2 deserve notice, especially Mayra from Mayra Makes It.  She's one of the more hard working tumbler and T-shirts makers that I've found.  Most of her ideas I have not seen in many places and usually when she comes up with something I find several people following her examples and tutorials. It helps that she has such a sweet personality.

When it comes to brands that not only sell crafters things but also supplies them with AMPLE tutorials from using their merchandise to even how to properly price out the items we sell The Rhinestone World was my inspiration for getting started.

About the Writer

Hi, I’m Gaël. I was born in Haiti and I am a recently married mother of 1 soon to be adopted little girl. Welcome to The Graphic Alchemist where I mainly talk about design, but I do throw in my opinions on other matters to add some spice. From graphic design to recipes and everything in between. Besides this portfolio/blog I also have a small business called Dyadic Alchemy that I run with my husband. We are both alchemists in are own right and love mixing things up.  As the name of the blog suggests, between the two of us, I am the graphic alchemist.
